You showed me everything was black because my eyes were closed

Blazer: Carmakoma (sponsored) // Sheer blouse: New Look Inspire // Shorts: Forever 21
 Boots: Steve Madden
Bracelets: from Century 21, but I forgot the brands
Earcuff: Gina Tricot

Tirsdag regnede det hele dagen i New York.

Tuesday in NYC was a rainy day. Tanja headed to Bloomingdale's while I slept in, but afterwards we met up and went to Tiffany's. We didn't buy anything, but it was cool just being there. We didn't want to waste time on more expensive brands, so we jumped in a cab to SoHo, where we'd spottet some cool stores the day before. I had a pair of Converse customized, as some of you may have seen on instagram already. If not, I promise you they'll be on the blog soon. Besides that I bought these amazing boots from Steve Madden. It was love at first sight and they are by far my best (and most expensive) buy in NYC. They went amazingly well with my OOTD, which I was already wearing. On they went, and then we shot some pictures, but by then it was already getting dark, sorry. My inner rock chick has to come out every now and then, and she definitely went all out that day!

Empire State of Mind

Dress: American Rag @ Macy's //  Waistcoat: ZJ (Zizzi Jeans)
Sunglasses: Primark
Earrings: Forever21
Bracelet: Forever21 // Ring: H&M
Tanja and I at the top of the Empire State Building // Tanja og jeg på toppen af Empire State Building
Look who else was on the top!

Monday before fashion week, Tanja and I went out and did what tourists do: we went up the Empire State Building, where we "met" Tom Cruise, and we visited the World Trade Center Memorial. Afterwards we stopped by the outlet Century 21 and then took a cab to Little Italy, where we had the best Italian food and sangria. It was such a nice day! I wore one of my new dresses from Macy's, and I absolutely love it. I adore the colour and it fits like a dream - it even has pockets! Paired with new jewelry, I felt great in it. I wish I'd worn a sweater though, as it did get cold during the day. Not like the heatwave NYC is experiencing at the moment!

Retailers/Boutiques Runway Show [FFFW #10]

Saturday came, and that meant the last night of FFFW, but also for Tanja and me. I enjoyed greater parts of the show on Friday (I'm an Indie-kind-of-girl it seems), but there were definite highlights on Saturday as well. Here's a small selection of some of my favourites! Once again thanks to Danimezza for her pictures.

 Lane Bryant

Især denne sag vakte begejstring i salen!

I loved seeing underwear on the runway, and I especially loved the sassy styling. This number brought down the house!

 Sonsi

Sonsi was one of the main sponsors for FFFW and they sent hot swimwear down the runway. My absolute favourite swimsuit was this sexy piece by Monif C. I'd love to own that!

 Evans

We're familiar with Evans in Europe, but in the States they're just now establishing Evans USA. I liked quite a few pieces from their collection, but especially this cute dress.

Mynt1792 is a new brand that launches this fall. I loved their faux fur gillets so much, as I wasted a lot of time last fall and winter looking for one in my size. They also do awesome jeans and are currently browsing through Europe for inspiration. So cool!

 Evie Foster

Evie Foster is an Australian designer who makes feminine and luxurious clothing. I especially loved her use of sequins, and this particular dress was gorgeous! She was also very sweet in person.

Lane Bryant does everything from underwear to everyday- and partywear. I'm mainly a fan of their underwear and dresses, but the collection is so big, that I'm sure there's something for everyone in there!

-------------------------

That's a wrap on FFFW 2012! I had such an amazing time, and none of these posts or pictures truly do it justice. There is no doubt in my mind, that I will be back next year. And I'm bringing back-up! Thanks for following my journey, thanks for all your sweet words and comments, I know I'm terribly behind on answering them. Thanks for giving me an opportunity to go on adventures like this, I love you guys!

Let the memory live again [FFFW #9]

Dress: Adrianna Papell @ Macy's
Earrings: Ashley Stewart
Rings: borrowed from Miss Cherry Lipz (the right one is Dyhrberg/Kern)
 5 min. up-do (!)
I felt comfortable and very glamourous!
On the red carpet with Karen of Curvy Canadian
I love this shot, even though my shapewear totally shows! So much for glamour...
With the ever stylish Dani of Danimezza
With the fun and fab Olivia of Wait Until The Sunset (who was wearing Carmakoma, yay!)
With Plus-model of the year, Ashley Graham
With the amazing and cool designers of 17 Sundays, Claire (left) and Nikala (right)
Going out after the show, with (left to right) Rebecca of The Plus Side Of Me, designer  Jen Wilder of Cult of California, designer Anslee Connell of Savannah Red, Olivia of Wait Until The Sunset, Tanja of Miss Cherry Lipz, Nicole of A well-rounded venture, designer Nikala of 17 Sundays, model Samantha Morris, model Vicky Poole, model SallyAnn Thibedeau and designer Claire Primrose of 17 Sundays. We had a blast!

I've been dying to write this post and to show you one of my best purchases in New York: my dress for the finale! Saturday night was the Retailer/Boutique's Showcase, and I couldn't wait to put the dress on, since I'd bought it on my first day in the city. What a success! I received so many compliments, several people took photos and made videos of the dress (and me) - and I can tell by the pictures that I had a sort of glow that night. I felt so comfortable and beautiful in it, and I never even thought a dress like that would look good on me. But when I saw it at Macy's I had to try it on, and who would have known that it was love at first sight! I would have liked to have worn black heels with it, but since I hadn't brought any and not found a pair over there, I had to settle for my nude wedges. It worked out okay, but black ones had made it that little bit more perfect. We had a great night - the show was fine, but what really made it memorable was dinner and drinks with the lovely girls afterwards. I really can't wait for our reunion next year!

Indie Designer Showcase - the best of the rest [FFFW #8]

There's so much to show you, but to not overwhelm you, I've chosen my favourite pieces from the rest of the Indie Designer Show. There were some things that didn't appeal to my personal style - I think there's quite a difference in American and European/Scandinavian design - but there was also a lot of awesome stuff. You already know how much I loved 17 Sundays and Ashley Nell Tipton's collections, but besides them I fell in love with Youtheary Khmer and several pieces from the rest of the designers. For the full version of the show, check out this link. Once again it's Danimezza who's been so kind to share her photos.

Youtheary Khmer:

Yay!

I loved all the bright and pastel colours. Very girly and chic! I could see myself rocking most of the collections, and having just looked at their website, it's also very reasonably priced! Yay!

Curvato Clothing:

Bold and glamorous designs, where I especially liked these two dresses, that really make a statement!

Jibri:

Jibri won the award for best plus-size designer of the year, and I really liked her vision. The structure and materials looked wonderful, and I especially adore her highwaisted skirts and the bold pantsuit!

Queen Grace Collection:

Queen Grace Collection is all about "celebrating your freedom, your inner confidence and your unique beauty", and I loved the feminine and flowy dresses with details such as embellishment or lace.

 Sorella Swim:

I loved seeing swimwear on the runway and the models rocked it! Look at the amazing Vicky Poole in that purple bikini! I'm more of a bathingsuit girl myself however, and I love how stylish and flattering, yet simple, these pieces were in both silhoutte and fabric. No more huge flower-patterned swimsuits for me!

Ashley Nell Tipton - Shooting Star of the year! [FFFW #7]

I love how Ashley combines the knit with this cute, girly skirt. Want!
SallyAnn Thibedeau rocked this amazing peach polkadot dress! I love the vintage feel of it and could see myself wearing it with some heavy boots or Converse, too, for a more 90's vibe!
I love how structured and modern this dress looks paired with the awesome booties!
So cute and flowy, and I love the bib, which is also down the back!
So bold and edgy! I love how Ashley isn't afraid of letting the curvy girl know, that she doesn't have to hide her curves!
Once again, I love the knit. And check out the back of it on Ashley's website
Freaking amazing combo! This over-all look was my favourite. How amazing do the shoes look, too?
The model Nicole looked fierce as hell in this outfit. The shirt is AMAZING!
Cute dress, makes me crave for a tea party or a girls night out!
The lady of the hour herself, miss Ashley Nell Tipton. So sweet and so talented!

One of the absolute highlights of fashion week and one of the things I'd been looking forward to the most, was seeing Ashley Nell Tipton's design on the runway. I was not disappointed! I love her vision and the way she mixes fabrics and prints. I think it's so chic and trendy how she combines knit with delicate skirts and pants. Ashley writes on her website, that she is inspired by London and that she is trying to fill the gap that she sees in the plus-size industry. To me that is so refreshing, and I love how she brings something young and edgy to the table. Ashley herself is only 20 (!) years old, so the future sure looks promising, not only for this lovely lady as a designer, but also for us as consumers. She is just what we need! From the entire collection, my favourite pieces were the knit, the peach polkadot dress, the polkadot skirt and the striped and dotted shirt. Amazing work, I can't wait until it comes out next year! Congratulations, Ashley!

Thanks to Dani from Danimezza.com for the pictures. Mine weren't even close to being this amazing.
