Don't let what they say keep you up at night

Dress: Ellos // Shoes: Deichmann // Necklace & square ring: Glitter // Knucklerings: Message

------------------------------------------------------

Here's my outfit from Sunday where I had lunch with my family in Odense. My two grandmothers celebrated a belated, combined birthday, and it was such a nice day. I love living in Copenhagen, but it's so nice to be able to visit home and be with my family once in a while. I just bought this dress from my friend Stine, and I thought it was such a cute and appropriate dress for the occassion. Inspired by her, I wore my new wannabe Vans with it, and they went perfectly with my pink necklace, too. Wearing sneakers with dresses gives a very cute and youthful twist to your look, and it's something I think I'll do more often now. Are you guys following my style at the moment by the way? Right now it's kind of all over the place, but I really don't want to commit to only one trend. I like a bit of everything, and I've always loved experimenting with my style. I'm quite playful with it at the moment, and I hope that you're having as much fun with it as I am. At the end of the day, it's all about just being inspired and putting your own spin on it, and by changing just one detail, like the shoes in this outfit for instance, you can achieve a totally different look. Thanks for following my journey, you guys, and welcome to all the new readers! It's really nice to see you ;-)

Looking back: August 2012

Her er en lille collage fra min august 2012 på bloggen // Here's al little collage of my August 2012 on the blog

Her så vi kollektionen for forår 2013 - læs indlægget her, og se mit outfit her

Mit outfit finder I her.

Læs indlægget her og se mit outfit her

-----------------------------------------------

I've been blogging well over 3 years now, so I thought it' might be fun to look back at what I did this time last year, and continue doing so once a month. I always enjoy posts like these on the blogs I follow! August 2013 has almost come to an end (where did the summer go? Not to mention this year!), but I can still make this month. I didn't do a lot of posts last August, because as far as I can remember, I was tired after blogging so much from- and about New York and Full Figured Fashion Week. Also the blogsphere was kind of quiet, as people are always on holiday during July and August. However, I did manage to do a few posts on Copenhagen Fashion Week, where there was a little bit going on for the curvy women.

- First of, Karina fra Copenhagen Curves and I went to visit Carmakoma at CIFF (Copenhagen International Fashion Fair), and saw the Spring 2013 collection. You can read the post here, and see my outfit here.

- Next up, Karina and I went to Gallery at Forum, but didn't stay long before we headed out into the sun. My outfit can be found here.

- Last but not least, Plus Living did their fashion show in the basement of a theatre, and once again I had teamed up with Karina. We went backstage during the day, to get the full experience, and also had our hair done (big!) by the stylists. The post is here and my outfit here

I feel like I've been a lot busier this August, but that's in no means a bad thing. I'm ready for even more fashion week, and for even more fashion for the curvy and plus-size women. What do you think, are you up for that?

You're Gonna Hear Me Roar

"I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath, scared to rock the boat and make a mess.
So I sat quietly, agreed politely. I guess that I forgot I had a choice.
I let you push me past the breaking point. I stood for nothing, so I fell for everything.
You held me down, but I got up, already brushing off the dust.
You hear my voice, you hear that sound. Like thunder, gonna shake your ground.
You held me down, but I got up. Get ready cause I’ve had enough.
I see it all, I see it now: I got the eye of the tiger, the fighter, dancing through the fire.
Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar."

 - Katy Perry "Roar"

Cardigan: Gina Tricot // Jumpsuit: Zizzi // Heels: Asos // Lipstick: MAC // Jewelry: my sister's

----------------------------------------------------

I had to begin this post with wise words from ms. Perry, as I've fallen completely in love with this song. If you haven't heard it yet, do yourselves a favor and check it out. I work through a lot of my emotions using music, and often play songs that capture what I'm feeling or experiencing at certain moments in my life. Right now this song is at the top of my playlist, as I feel like I'm on a roll right now, and I'm planning on kicking ass in various areas of my life. It gives me strenght and makes me believe that I can actually do it!

The title also suited this post perfectly, since I'm wearing my new leopard jumpsuit from Zizzi. I fell in love with it as soon as I layed eyes on it in my store, but I wasn't sure it would suit me. After seeing my friend Stine looking absolutely amazing in it at Zizzi's fashion show, I had to at least try it on though. I did exactly that the day after the show, and halle-f***ing-lujah, it looked good on my body shape, too! The clever double layer on the front camouflages my belly, and the baggy lower part with skinny legs, balances out the top. Another brilliant detail is the fact that you can place the elasticated waist wherever it suits you better, and by doing that you can also decide how baggy you want the lower part to be. Another option is going for a 3/4 lenght in the legs by pulling the fabric up under your knees, which also looks really cool. For a more casual look, you could style the jumpsuit with high-top sneakers (or sneaker wedges), and a college jacket. A blazer would add a more business- and classic look to it. It's such a versatile piece and the options are endless! This jumpsuit also comes in black and in navy, and even in a version with sleeves. There's something for everyone, and I can guarantee you, that jumpsuits look good on curvy women, too - and since it's one of the biggest trends of the season, there's really no excuse for not trying out this look!

I wish I was wearing... #Dr.Martens

Cardigan: Gina Tricot // Dress: Junarose Exclusive @Asos // Hat: River Island @Asos // Scarf: Pieces // Boots: Dr. Martens // Big ring: Georg Jensen // Thin rings: Pernille Corydon @Superlove // Cross ring: House of Harlow 1960 // Watch: Michael Kors

---------------------------------------------

This outfit is in many ways something I'm only dreaming of wearing. I've been thinking about investing in a pair of Doc Martens, like in the good old 90's, but the problem is that they are a bit too expensive (for my budget at least), and that I've heard they are hard to break in. I haven't got the patience for that! Luckily I own a lot of other boots that will go great with a look like this. Since it's already classified as an outfit I only wish I was wearing , I've allowed myself to incorporate some other really expensive items. The Michael Kors watch and the Georg Jensen ring are both well over 2000 DKK each, but I can dream, can't I? Maybe I'll start investing in real and timeless pieces like these once I've gotten my degree and landed an adult job. Time will tell! The rest of the items are budget friendly though, and I've actually just bought another long cardigan from Gina Tricot, which will be on the blog tomorrow. But the one in the collage is a bit thicker and warmer for the upcoming season, which has inspired this set. I could easily see myself wearing something similar for fall - what do you think?

Ya gotta keep pushin' for the fortune and fame

Shirt: Gina Tricot // Dress: Asos // Tights: Zizzi
Bandana: Ebay // Rings: Message // Boots: Steve Madden

De var nok blevet bedre, havde det været overskyet, but you get the picture.

----------------------------------------------------

Here's my outfit from Saturday where I went shopping with my mom and my sister. The weather was lovely, with just a slight overcast, so I didn't need a jacket. Instead I borrowed this shirt from my mom, which I really think finished off the outfit. I was obvioulsy channeling my inner Axl Rose, but luckily I've always been pretty fond of Guns'n'Roses, haha! After having lunch, we found this really cool graffiti wall, and I just had to have my pictures taken right there, even though the sun was in my eyes. They probably would have turned out better if the sun hadn't been out, but I think you get the idea. It was a fantastic day, also thanks to the fact that we ended it with homemade pulled pork burgers and then a movie on the couch. I love being home for a visit! How was your weekend?

Instagram Sunday #2

-----------------------------------------------

And it's Sunday again, which means another instagram round-up from the past seven days! This week I stopped by the JUNAROSE showroom in Copenhagen, bought a new lipstick from Maybelline, a new eyebrow pencil from MAC and a skirt from Gina Tricot. I snapped a sweet picture in Nyhavn ("New Harbour"), because it always looks so pretty. Of course I also attended the prepremiere of One Direction's "This Is Us", where I was wearing a band tee and had a good time with the other girls. The advantage of being part of the older segment of fans, is the fact that you get to go out and have a beer afterwards, haha! I also had a quick throwback to when I was a redhead. I sometimes miss it, but then again I quite like it dark. I'm thinking something completely different needs to happen soon! On Friday I went back home to Odense, where my dad and I went out for Italian. Really nice to spend some daddy-daughter-time. Yesterday I went shopping with my mom and sister, and I bought some new rings from Message, a cardigan from Gina Tricot, a nailpolish from Deborah Lippmann, a postcard from Vissevasse, a fannypack and some wannabe Vans from Deichmann. For family dinner we had homemade pulled pork burger. So yummy! All in all a good week. How was yours?

We Danced All Night To The Best Song Ever

Hat: H&M // Bag: Romeo + Juliet // Lipstick: Maybelline Sensational Colour Vivid 906 "Hot Plum"
T-shirt: eBay // Skirt: Asos // Tights: Zizzi // Boots: Steve Madden
Necklace & Double Spike Ring: Glitter // Cross Ring: Gina Tricot // Nailpolish: OPI "Mod About You"

Still got it.

-------------------------------------------------------

To thos of you who haven't noticed via instagram (@stickysweetdanish), I'm a bit of a "Directioner" - that means that I'm pretty fond of One Direction. I could write an entire thesis on, how I could jump on this teenage hype being a 29-year-old woman, but let's just leave it at the fact that I really enjoy their music. It's carefree, super happy, and it makes me forget all my troubles when I dance around silly to the sweetest pop tunes. How this all goes hand in hand with the fact that I like to go out to rock bars, hang out with guys that listen to heavy metal, and consider myself a bit of a "rock chick", I have no idea. I'm pretty complex I think, haha! Anyways, the boys just released their movie "This Is Us" and I attended the danish prepremiere on Wednesday. We were four girls (all over 26!), and we saw it in 3D. It was incredibly made. I'm not that good with 3D, but I could still follow it and enjoy most of the effects. The movie lasts 1½ hours and consists of 62 minutes of concert footage and 28 minutes of backstage stuff, interviews and their personal life. You'd probably have to be a bit of a 1D fan to enjoy the film, but I really liked it! My ears were ringing a bit when we left though. Teenage girls don't just scream at concerts, sigh. The girls and I had all planned of wearing a band t-shirt, so I incorporated this black one from Ebay into my outfit. The print was actually meant to go on the back, but I liked it better this way, and just turned it around. If you're not a fan, you could easily replace it with another sports t-shirt of a kind, and get the same effect from it. I like that people don't immediately spot that it's a 1D shirt, unless they are part of the fandom, too (and to all you other Harry fans out there, the hat and the boots were also a tribute to him and his style). At the end of the day, it's still very much a "Rikke" kind of outfit, and I'm actually pretty happy with it. Kudos to Stine who took these great pictures by the way!

Bonus info: After the movie I was estimated to be "about the same age as the boys", which means around 21. Still got it.

Visiting the JUNAROSE Showroom in Copenhagen

Really cool army jacket with leather look sleeves and on-trend aztec detail.
Stylish suede waterfall blazer.
Cool T-shirts with prints!
The softest, most funky hairy knit! The more I looked at it, the more I loved it.
Black quilted bomber style jacket with rosegold zipper. Amazing, and so versatile!
Camilla from JUNAROSE showing off the musthave black and grey dip-dye jeans
(sorry for the poor lighting - I hope you can still tell that she's one gorgeous lady!)
Greys and prints are hot the coming seasons!
Navy , stripes, denim, knit - the collections go so well together.
This is just a tiny snippet of the collections for the upcoming seasons, but it bears great promise!

---------------------------------------------------

This Tuesday I had a meeting with JUNAROSE, the new danish plus-size brand from Bestseller, that I'm sure you must have heard of by now. They launched their webshop just last week, and I was curious to have a closer look at the collection and get some more info on the brand, so I headed to their showroom here in Copenhagen. The lovely Camilla and I had a nice chat about the brand, the collections, the design and the thought behind it. It was a really casual chat and a super nice atmosphere, just the way I like it! Camilla told me that there will be 8 (!) collections a year, and that there's only one designer behind them all. I didn't know that, and I was super impressed by both. I was allowed to hug all the clothes in the showroom, as you can see, and I was very pleased with the quality. They only had a limited amount of items from the collections in the showroom, but I fell in love with quite a few items anyway. There really is something for everyone, every shape and style: bodycon dresses, t-shirts with print, jeans, jackets, blazers, shirts, knit - you name it! They've also payed attention to details and played with different materials. A lot of the things can be styled to go perfectly with your individual style, so they are quite versatile. Another thing that got me excited, was the fact that the collections go so well together. Both in colour, textures and styles. This may sound basic, but it's an import detail to me. Obviously not everything in the collections appealed to my personal style (that would just be asking too much), but I could very well see it working for someone else. The most important thing for me, was seeing that it's a trendy brand, with a youthful and fashion forward design. There was no "granny wear", and no standard leggings and tunics! But I still think that the brand has a broad appeal, and I could easily style both the business woman and the high school student from the same collection. That's fantastic! This definitely won't be my last time blogging about Denmark's new plus-size brand, and I'm looking forward to following JUNAROSE in the future - because it's looking really bright.

P.S: Besides selling on their own webshop here, JUNAROSE is also sold on Asos Curve!

I wish I was wearing... #Fat Bitch

Fat B****
Top: Asos (sold out in Curve) // Skirt: A/Wear @Asos // Beanie: Sick girl @Asos // Heels: New Look @Asos // Lipstick: Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids 906 "Hot Plum" // Nailpolish: OPI "I forgot my Czechbook" // Fat Bitch Necklace: Black Heart Creatives

Alt for fedt!

--------------------------------------------

Here's an outfit I'd like to wear soon - and luckily everything is on it's way to me (except for the nailpolish, which I already have, and the lipstick, that I'm going on a hunt for soon!). I already have the top in nude (outfit post here), and I love it so much that I had to have it in black, too. It's totally sold out now, so I guess I was lucky to grab it when I ordered on Sunday! I'm excited to see if the skirt fits, and if it goes as well with the top as I hope it will. Otherwise I'm planning on wearing a black miniskirt with the top, and a sweatshirt with the skirt. We'll see! How freaking awesome is that necklace by the way? I've had my eye on it for quite a while, so now was the time to finally get it. I've also ordered a black heart broche with the word "Cunt" on it. So cool! Talk about statement jewelry! I can't wait to see people's reactions to it. Of course I'm being ironic, but I also kind of want to reclaim the word "fat", which bears so many negative connotations, too. After all, it's just another adjective, so yes: I am fat, but no: I am not disgusting/sweaty/filthy/lazy/ugly/a bad person/insert more ridiculous things here. What do you think, would you wear a necklace like this, or do you find it too provocative?

Trends & Details at CIFF - Copenhagen International Fashion Fair

The awesome ladies Jette (left) and Charlotte (right)
Star Rock - danish jewelry webshop, soon to launch worldwide shipping!
Amazing clutches from Triple 7 - I hope they find their way to a danish/european retailer!
by Burin - danish brand carrying gorgeous leather handbags, shoes, boots and more

I have one last and little post about Copenhagen Fashion Week. When I was with Carmakoma at CIFF, I had a little time to snoop around. I didn't spend too long though, but I had talked to the designer Charlotte from Star Rock about stopping by. She's the sweetest woman - so energetic and creative. She has a huge drive and a passion for what she does, and I love how she focuses on symbols and energies. A lot of thought and love have been put into her pieces! I also stumbled across these amazing plexi glass clutches from Triple 7, that came in several colours. So cool! And I also stopped by by Burin, who make really awesome leather bags, shoes, boots and purses. I fell head over heels for these blue brogues, and also really loved the funky boots. When it comes to larger handbags and boots, I tend to buy mostly black, which is cool and goes with a lot, but I've decided to try and switch it up just a bit... no later than next Spring, where these babies will be available! I promise to do more accessories trendspotting next fashion week, as I did actually see a lot of cool stuff this time - and at the end of the day, it's the details that finish off an outfit and make it personal!
